ERIE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (8-7, 1-2 PSAC) was knocked off in a tough match on the road at Mercyhurst (6-8, 1-2 PSAC) by a score of 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 21-25, 25-17, 11-15).
The Bald Eagles started the match strong and took the first set before Mercyhurst rallied and took the following two sets and took a 2-1 lead. Lock Haven then answered the Mercyhurst rally by taking the fourth set and evening the score at two sets a piece. In the final set, the Bald Eagles did their best to overcome a slow start, but couldn't quite pull it off as Mercyhurst was able to win the set and get the win.
Veronica Morrison (Sugar Run, Pa./Wyalusing Valley) had a stellar all around outing for the Haven. She led the Bald Eagles with 16 kills and also tallied 10 digs.
Kristen Nealon (Horsham, Pa./Archbishop Wood) did a great job on offense for Lock Haven, tallying 39 assists to go along with 13 digs.
Shaye Whiteman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) did what she could on the defensive side of things, leading the team 33 digs.
Next up for the Bald Eagles is another road match on Saturday, September 30 at Gannon. Game is scheduled to start at 2:00 pm.
