ERIE Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (8-8, 1-3 PSAC) dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match on the road at Gannon University (13-3, 3-1 PSAC) today, 3-0 (25-20, 25-20 & 25-15).
The Bald Eagles hung tough with Gannon, keeping the sets close and making the Golden Knights sweat, however, the Golden Knights were able to make a few more plays and get the win.
The Bald Eagle offense was led by
Gabrielle Stick (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) and
Kristen Nealon (Horsham, Pa./Archbishop Wood). Stick led the Haven attackers with eight kills while Nealon fed the attackers with 21 assists.
Shaye Whiteman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) and
Holly Shoemaker (Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) paced the Haven defense. Whiteman led the team with 20 digs while Shoemaker was next in line with 11 of her own.
The Bald Eagles will look to get back in the win column next weekend as they open a three-match homestand. On Friday (Oct. 6), Lock Haven will host West Chester before hosting Cheyney Saturday (Oct. 7) and Pitt-Johnstown on Tuesday (Oct. 10). The match next Tuesday with UPJ marks LHU's PSAC Central opener.
