LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) set a school record by knocking down eight three-pointers in route to tying her career high with 30 points to help the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (3-13, 2-10 PSAC) outlast Millersville University (8-8, 5-7 PSAC) 86-84 in a thrilling Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East nail-biter at the Thomas Fieldhouse.
Devine was sensational all night long, shooting an efficient 11-13 from the field including 8-9 from the three-point line. She also added two rebounds and led the Bald Eagles with three assists.
The Haven and The Marauders played a very back and forth game throughout. Millersville led 32-21 late in the first half, but Lock Haven was able to close the half on a 16-5 run and knot the game at 37 at the break.
In the second half, LHU and the Marauders continued their back and forth affair as the teams exchanged baskets and neither team could pull away from the other.
The difference in this one turned out to be the Lock Haven three-point shooting.
The Marauders and the Bald Eagles both shot 19 three-pointers in the game. Millersville was able to knock down just five of those attempts while LHU was able to knock down 13, allowing Lock Haven to outscore The Marauders 39-15 from behind the arc. Besides Devine's eight,
Becca Reilly (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and
Rayah Fink (Dover, Pa./Dover) each had two three-pointers while
Mackenzie Livingston (Blairsville, Pa./IUP) rounded out the shooting clinic by hitting her only three-point attempt.
Fink finished the game with career-high 15 points while shooting 5-9 from the field and hitting 2-3 from behind the arc.
Jordyn Kloster (Manchester, Pa./Millersville) also played really well for the Bald Eagles, notching her career-high with 12 points and also pulling down a team-high six rebounds.
Lock Haven will host Cheyney on Saturday, Jan. 20. Tip is scheduled 12:00 p.m.
