LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball (7-12, 5-10 PSAC) shot 61.5% from the field in the second half to down Mansfield University (6-13, 5-11 PSAC) in a tough Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) battle, 75-64.
The Haven and Mansfield battled throughout the 40 minutes of play as LHU jumped out to a 16 point lead with 7:46 left in the first half before the Mountaineers climbed their way back.
Amir Hinton (Philadelphia/Abington) and
Tarojae Brake (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara) stepped it up when LHU needed it late in the game hitting clutch shots down the stretch.
Hinton finished the game with a game high 22 points, 14 of those came in the second half. He also led the team with eight rebounds. Brake netted 19 points and scored 17 of those in the final 20 minutes of action.
Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) chipped in with a solid 4-6 shooting from the field, totaling 10 points.
Freshman
Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carrloll) played a well-rounded game as he scored six points and hauled in seven rebounds.
Lock Haven will hit the road for its next game when they travel to Bloomsburg to take on the Huskies. That game is scheduled for Saturday, February 3 with a 3:00 p.m. tip.
