LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Visiting-Monmouth University (11-6) scored twice in the first half and the Hawks edged out the Lock Haven University field hockey team (8-9), 2-0, today in non-conference action.
LHU has just one game remaining and on Sunday (October 28), the Bald Eagles will host La Salle University at 1 p.m. in Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) action. Prior to the game, Lock Haven will honor its four graduating seniors:
Tamia Roach (Petit Valley, Trinidad and Tobago/St. Joseph's Convent Port-of-Spain),
Dana-Lee De Gannes (Maraval, Trinidad and Tobago/Maraval),
Alyscia Smith (Newport, Pa./Newport) and
Brianna DeAngelis (Doylestown, Pa./Monmouth).
Both of Monmouth's goals today came in the first half. Ireen Frenken scored in the 21
st minute and in the 25
th minute, Georgia Garden Bachop made it 2-0.
Smith and Roach did all they could to spark The Haven offense today and the duo finished with eight of LHU's 11 shots. DeAngelis got the start in goal and made three saves in nearly 27 minutes of play.
Joaquina Orlandini (Concordia, Argentina/San Antonio School) made one save in the final 43-plus minutes of action.
After 70 total minutes, Lock Haven held a slight 11-9 advantage in shots and the Bald Eagles had a 6-2 advantage in corners.
Sunday's 2018 season-finale is set for a 1 p.m. start at Charlotte Smith Field.
