LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (9-9, 3-5 A-10) celebrated Senior Day in style thanks to goals from seniors
Dana-Lee De Gannes (Maraval, Trinidad and Tobago/Maraval) and leading scorer
Alyscia Smith (Newport, Pa./Newport), as the Bald Eagles dropped La Salle (8-10, 2-6 A-10), 2-0, today in Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) action.
Today marked the final game of the 2018 season for LHU and with it coming at home on Charlotte Smith Field, LHU head coach
Pat Rudy and the Bald Eagles honored their graduating seniors:
Tamia Roach (Petit Valley, Trinidad and Tobago/St. Joseph's Convent Port-of-Spain) and
Brianna DeAngelis (Doylestown, Pa./Monmouth), along with today's goal-scorers De Gannes and Smith.
Roach fired off a game-high six shots and DeAngelis – LHU's goalkeeper – prevented the shutout with two big saves down the stretch.
The four seniors have been outstanding all season for the Bald Eagles and their impact goes far beyond just this 2018 season.
With the win today, the Bald Eagles finish the season at .500 (9-9 overall) and LHU went 3-5 in the competitive A-10. The shutout marked Lock Haven's seventh of the season.
De Gannes put Lock Haven up 1-0 just 4:20 into the game and Smith made it 2-0 in the 25
th minute on her team-best 13
th goal of the season.
Tia Judy (East Prospect, Pa./Homeschooled) and
Kayla Brathwaite (Arouca, Trinidad and Tobago/Bishop Anesty East) picked up assists on the Smith-goal.
DeAngelis finished with two saves, both of which came on good chances in the final minutes of the clean sheet.

Niamh Sexton (Fermoy, Ireland/Loreto Secondary School Fermoy) and
Emily Robb (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) stood out on defense this afternoon.

Coach Rudy makes history, gets win No. 600
The 2-0 win at Davidson on October 5 proved to be a historic one. The win gave LHU head coach
Pat Rudy her 600th career victory, a career coaching milestone that only two NCAA field hockey coaches have reached before her. Rudy entered the 2018 season with 593 wins and the win at Davidson – the seventh of the season for LHU – pushed her to the magic No. 600. The 2018 season marks Rudy's 23rd at LHU, her alma mater, and her 41st season coaching overall at the college level. Rudy entered the season already holding the third-most wins of all-time and earlier this season, she grabbed her 350th win at LHU.
Roach headed to Senior All-Star Game
Recently,
Tamia Roach was selected to the 2018 Victory Sports Tours / National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Division I Senior Game. The senior all-star game features the top senior players in the nation and, in all, 38 players were selected. This year, the Division I Senior Game will take place in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship in Louisville, Kentucky. The Senior Game is currently set for 6:00 p.m. EST on Friday, November 16, 2018 following the conclusion of the NCAA semifinal games at the University of Louisville's Trager Stadium.
