Women’s Basketball falls in PSAC play at Slippery Rock

The LHU women’s basketball team was downed on the road tonight in an entertaining PSAC crossover at Slippery Rock.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Despite a team-high 20 points from Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) and a career-high 16 points from freshman Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley), the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (7-2, 3-1 PSAC) was downed 77-66 tonight on the road at Slippery Rock (5-4, 3-0 PSAC) in a tightly contested and entertaining Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover contest.
 
The two teams were tied at 40 at halftime, but the Rock used a strong second half to down Lock Haven. Both teams entered tonight unbeaten in PSAC play. With the win SRU moved to 3-0 in league play, while Lock Haven pushed to 3-1 in PSAC action. The Bald Eagles are now 7-2 overall.
 
Once again, Lock Haven got a balanced scoring effort and an all-around tremendous game from the starting five.
 
Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn) was LHU's third player in double-figures as she netted 10 points to go along with seven rebounds.
 
Devine knocked down six 3-pointers while Leidy was 2 of 3 from 3-point range. Leidy, the rookie sensation, added three boards and two assists.
 
Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) added eight points and Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh (State College, Pa./State College) finished with six points and a career-high 12 rebounds.
 
For Lock Haven, tonight's loss snapped a six-game win streak. Despite the loss, LHU is off to one of the best starts in the last 30 years. The Bald Eagles entered the game ranked No. 9 in the Atlantic Region.
 
LHU will be right back in action tomorrow (Wednesday, Dec. 19) on the road in PSAC action at Edinboro (5:30 p.m.).
