EDINBORO, Pa. – Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and
Jihad Barnes (Philadelphia/Philadelphia Electric Charter) led a balanced scoring effort from the Bald Eagles and the Lock Haven University men's basketball team (4-4, 3-2 PSAC) downed host Edinboro University (4-5, 1-3 PSAC), 86-81, for another huge early-season Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory.
Cerruti netted 25 points, just off his career-high, and Barnes scored 20.
Tonight's win pushed Lock Haven back to .500 on the season at 4-4 overall. The Bald Eagles are now 3-2 in PSAC play as they continue to roll in league play early.
Cerruti was 12 of 20 from the field and Barnes was 6 of 9. Barnes also dished out a career-high eight assists.
Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carrol) and
Christian Kelly (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) found themselves in double-figures scoring with 11 and 10 points, respectively. McPherson added five rebounds and Kelly drilled a pair of 3's.
The strong play continued for
Jaylen Washington (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) who scored eight points and grabbed seven boards.
Marques Jackson (Philadelphia/Monsignor Bonner) added five points and six rebounds.
Lock Haven scored 18 points off turnovers as they took full advantage of Edinboro there. The Bald Eagles added 13 fast-break points and in all, the bench provided 17 points in tonight's win.
LHU will break for the holidays, but returns to action in the New Year. The Bald Eagles are set to travel to Bloomsburg on Wednesday, January 2 for Lock Haven's 2018-19 PSAC East opener. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
