BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Christian Kelly (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) finished with 22 points and was one of four Bald Eagles in double-figures scoring, but the Lock Haven University men's basketball team (4-5, 3-3 PSAC East) was edged tonight at Bloomsburg University (4-6, 2-4 PSAC East), 77-71 in LHU's 2018-19 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opener.
Kelly added nine rebounds and two blocks.
Jihad Barnes (Philadelphia/Philadelphia Electric Charter) netted 15 points and dished out three assists.
Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and
Jaylen Washington (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) each scored 13 points. Washington also grabbed eight rebounds.
Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carrol) chipped in with eight points in the narrow road loss.
Lock Haven led at halftime, but Bloomsburg edged out the Bald Eagles thanks to a strong second half that saw the hosts shoot 49 percent from the floor and 50 percent from 3-point range.
On Saturday (January 5), Lock Haven will host Mansfield University at 3 p.m. in PSAC East action.
