EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (7-14, 5-12 PSAC) fell on the road in a high scoring affair 118-102 to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East foe East Stroudsburg University (16-5, 13-4 PSAC).
The Bald Eagles and The Warriors played a game of runs in the first half. ESU was able to get off to a quick start as they built an early 17-point lead. Lock Haven then began to chip away at that lead throughout the rest of the first half, eventually cutting the ESU lead to 57-51 at the intermission.
In the second half, the game was more of the same as both teams continued to exchange scoring runs. In the end, East Stroudsburg was able to have the final run in order to pull away and get the victory.
Amir Hinton (Philadelphia/Abington) was sensational for LHU, scoring 39 points on 12-19 shooting from the field and 12-12 from the line. He also added eight rebounds and four assists to lead Lock Haven.
Ra'eese Hunt (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) played a strong game, scoring 21 points to go with four rebounds while
Jihad Barnes (Philadelphia/Philadelphia Electric Charter) scored 12 points.
Hunt entered the game with 999 career points so his 21-point effort pushed him over 1,000-career points as he became the 19
th player in school history to reach the milestone (1,020 pts).
Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) played a strong all-around game as well, scoring 11 points to go with four rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Tarojae Brake (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara) scored 10 points to go with four rebounds and four assists to round out the five Bald Eagles that scored in double figures.
The Haven will return to Thomas Fieldhouse to host #14 Shippensburg on Saturday, February 10, 2018 for a big PSAC clash. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
