WILSON, N.C. - The Lock Haven University baseball team (7-2) used a huge first inning to jump on Wheeling Jesuit University (1-7) early and never looked back as the Bald Eagles were able to knock off the Cardinals 15-2 in the team's first game of the spring break trip in Wilson, N.C.
Despite unseasonably cold and rainy North Carolina weather, the Bald Eagle bats remained on fire, scoring nine runs in the first inning and scoring double-digit runs for the fifth time in nine games on the year.
Mother Nature forced some changes in the day's schedule as Lock Haven was scheduled to open the day vs. nationally-ranked Mercyhurst this morning, but that game was canceled.
Lock Haven will have an off day before they play the next game of the trip on Tuesday, March 13 against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East foe Bloomsburg. That game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. first pitch.
