CLERMONT, Fla. - The Lock Haven University softball team (4-6) competed on day two of the PFX Tournament as they faced Salem International (0-11) before taking on Jefferson (3-4) for the second game of the day. The Bald Eagles won game one 7-2 before falling in game two 3-2.
In game one,
Madison Mathes (Hammonton, N.J. Hammonton) and
Moriah Lindsey (Woolrich, Pa./Central Mountain) combined to drive in five of the LHU seven runs to help lead LHU to the team's third straight win to begin the trip.
Mathes led the team with three RBIs while Lindsay added two as both players were able to go 2-3 in the game.
Faith Ceely (Troy, Pa/Troy) was able to lead the Bald Eagles with three hits.
Kayla Gee (Williamsport, Pa/Loyalsock) pitched a great game for LHU, going six innings while giving up five hits, no earned runs while striking out eight.
In the second game, Mathes and
Chloe Kennedy (Elkton, Md./Caravel Academy) were able to drive in the two Lock Haven runs, but it wasn't quite enough as the Bald Eagles fell 3-2 to Jefferson.
Mathes, Lindsay and
Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) led The Haven offense, all tallying two hits in the game.
Bekah Slattery (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) pitched well for LHU, going all seven innings while giving up seven hits and three earned runs while striking out five.
LHU will return to the field tomorrow for day three of the PFX Tournament when the Bald Eagles take on Southern Connecticut State at 4:30 p.m. before capping the night against Charleston at 7 p.m.
