MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Behind a pair of sensational pitching efforts from
Bekah Slattery (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) and
Kayla Gee (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock), and a huge day at the plate from
Amanda Loar (Barto, Pa./Boyertown, the Lock Haven University softball team (11-9) powered its way to a sweep of Millersville University (12-11) on the road. The Bald Eagles won game one, 4-2 and took game two 8-0 in five innings.
The pitching-duo of Slattery and Gee gave up a combined nine hits over 12 innings and recorded a combined 19 strikeouts. Over the two-game span, Loar went 3 for 6 at the plate with seven total RBIs.
GAME 1: W, 4-2
In the 4-2 game-one, Slattery struck out 12 over seven innings. She scattered five hits.
Loar drove in a pair of runs on a single up the middle in the sixth inning, which broke a 2-2 tie.
Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) was 2 for 3 at the plate. She drove in a run and scored once.
Lock Haven's four runs came off six hits.
GAME 2: W, 8-0 (5 inn.).
In game two, Lock Haven jumped on Millersville early. The Bald Eagles plated five runs in the first and capped the game's scoring with three runs in the second.
Loar was 2 for 3 with five RBIs.
Madison Mathes (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton) was 2 for 3 with a RBI and two runs scored and
Becca Caputo (Williamsport, Pa./Jersey Shore) went 3 for 3 with a RBI and two runs scored.
Gee struck out seven over five innings. She scattered four hits and walked just one.

Lock Haven will return to action on Monday, April 2 at Pitt-Johnstown in the Bald Eagles PSAC Central opener. The doubleheader was scheduled for yesterday. Pushing the LHU-UPJ games to Monday postponed the doubleheader originally scheduled for Shippensburg; makeup date TBA. Today's doubleheader originally scheduled for IUP is also still waiting on a makeup date.
