EDINBORO, Pa. – The No. 22 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (12-5, 8-4 PSAC) closed the regular season with a dominating 17-3 win over Edinboro University (3-13, 0-12 PSAC) this afternoon on the road in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
With the win, the Bald Eagles secured the No. 4 seed for next week's PSAC Tournament and will host a First Round playoff game on Tuesday, May 4 at 4 p.m. During the regular season, LHU went a perfect 9-0 at home.
Edinboro led 2-1 less than four minutes into the game, but Lock Haven quickly found its groove. With 13 minutes left in the first half, the Fighting Scots scored their third and final goal of the contest. LHU led 5-3 before scoring the next 12 goals of the outing, including nine second-half strikes.
Lock Haven registered 37 shots (37-9), grabbed 28 ground balls and held a lopsided 17-5 advantage in draw controls.
Dana Laulis (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) led the offensive charge with 11 points (3G, 8A).
Katie Costanza (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) netted three goals and
Alex O'Herrick's (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) three-goal day led another balanced all-around effort. O'Herrick finished with 11 draw controls and four ground balls.
The Bald Eagles were credited with 17 caused turnovers and five different players recorded at least two. Goalkeeper
Lauren Marte (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) made four first-half saves on the way to the win.
On Tuesday, May 1 at 4 p.m., No. 4 seed Lock Haven will host No. 6 seed Slippery Rock in the PSAC First Round. During the regular season, LHU downed SRU 13-7 on Charlotte Smith Field.
