CLARION, Pa. – Marah Foltz (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) scored twice and sparked the Bald Eagles as the Lock Haven University women's soccer team (1-0, 1-0 PSAC) opened the 2018 season today with a 3-1 win at Clarion University (0-2, 0-2 PSAC) in conference action.
Foltz finished two goals and she assisted Lock Haven's other goal, which was scored by
Haleigh Swam (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill).

Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) made one save, but it was a tremendous team defensive effort in front of her that helped pave the way for the victory. The Bald Eagles only allowed four shots over 90 minutes and outshot the hosts, 24-4. Lock Haven had a 5-1 advantage in corners and the pressure was rewarded with three goals in the opening game of the season.
Clarion's goal came in the 16
th minute, but Lock Haven was quick to respond and Foltz scored her first of two goals in the 21
st minute to tie the match at 1-1.
It was 1-1 at halftime, but Swam put LHU up 2-1 in the 52
nd minute.
Foltz scored an insurance goal for the Bald Eagles in the 57
th minute which stretched the lead to 3-1.
The Bald Eagles' 2018 home-opener is set for Wednesday, September 5 vs. Kutztown at 4 p.m.
