Strong second half leads LHU past Daemen

The LHU men’s soccer team used a strong second half to come from behind and knock off Daemen College, 3-1 in non-conference action.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (4-2-1) used a strong second half in which the team scored three goals to knock off Daemen (3-3), 3-1 Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.

The win helped LHU push their win streak to three games in which the Bald Eagles have scored 13 total goals over the streak.

Beckham Sibiski (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) led Lock Haven with some stellar all around play. The sophomore midfielder scored two goals and had an assist as LHU rallied from a 1-0 second half deficit to pull ahead and get the win.

After Daemen's Anthony Cupello put Daemen ahead 1-0 in the 54th minute, The Haven turned the intensity up a notch.

Andrew Moore (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) was able to head home a Sibiski pass in the 58th minute to tie the game up at 1-1.

Sibiski then corralled two beautiful passes, one from Matthew McDermott (Stroundsburg, Pa,/Stroudsburg) in the 68th minute and one from Brian Flatter (Frederick, Md./Oakdale) in the 84th minute, and Sibiski was able to beat the keeper on both plays to put LHU ahead for good and get the Bald Eagles the 3-1 victory.

As a team, Lock Haven outshot the Wildcats 18-8.

The LHU defense had another strong showing led by sophomore defender Chase Tackett (Bethelem, Pa./Liberty). Tackett continuously broke up strong pushes from Daemen and made big defensive plays when the team needed them.

Camden Cook (Rosedale, Md./High Point) was strong in goal for The Haven, tallying six saves.

The Bald Eagles will hit the road for the next game when LHU travels to Slippey Rock. That game is scheduled for Friday, September 21 with a 1:30 pm kickoff.
