LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (6-4, 0-2 A10) rallied for a late goal, but it wasn't enough to spark the Bald Eagles to an upset, as No. 14 and visiting Saint Joseph's (7-2, 2-0 A10) earned a, 4-1, Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) win.
 
Behind two goals in each half and a hat trick from Tonya Botherway, Saint Joseph's moved to 2-0 in A-10 play. The loss snapped a two-game Haven winning streak.
 
Trailing 4-0 late, Dana-Lee De Gannes (Maraval, Trinidad and Tobago/Maraval) put the Bald Eagles on the scoreboard. She ran onto a long Niamh Sexton (Fermoy, Ireland/Loreto Secondary School of Fermoy) pass into the crease, and chipped it high and over the Hawk goalkeeper on a backhand-shot. The goal game with 3:18 left as Lock Haven did all it could to rally.
 
Newcomer Joaquina Orlandini (Concordia, Argentina/San Antonio School) played the final 22:07 in goal and made two saves.
 
LHU is now 6-4 overall (0-2 A-10) and will look to bounce back on Sunday (September 30) vs. Rider. Lock Haven's Hall of Fame head coach Pat Rudy will enter Sundays' game with the Broncs sitting on 599 career wins, as she looks to reach the prestigious 600-win mark this weekend at home.
