Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Foltz’s OT heroics lift Haven to huge PSAC road win

The LHU women’s soccer team defeated Gannon University 2-1 in 2OT.

ERIE, Pa. – Marah Foltz (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) scored twice as the Lock Haven University women's soccer team (5-2-1, 5-2-1, PSAC)  topped Gannon (4-4-1, 3-4-1, PSAC) 2-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action.

After a tightly fought first half, the Bald Eagles found themselves down 1-0 at halftime.

LHU looked to be the aggressor in the second half, but were held back by a number of offside calls.

With just 8 minutes to go in regulation, Foltz beat her defender to the middle and slotted the ball past the keeper to tie the game 1-1. LHU then put their foot on the gas but were unable to get the go ahead goal and were headed to OT.

After a scoreless first overtime, Foltz found herself on a breakaway down the left side of the field. She cut middle and slotted a shot past the keeper to the far post for the win.

The Bald Eagles held a slight 14-13 lead in shots. 10 of them on goal.

LHU goalkeeper Bree Hilty (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) had a strong performance, finishing with 5 saves.

A strong defensive effort from the Bald eagles was led by Erika Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) and Jordan Shoff (York, Pa./York Suburban).

LHU will next battle East Stroudsburg University in conference action on Wednesday, October 3 (3:30 p.m.).
