WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (6-9, 1-5 PSAC) used a complete team effort to knock off Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) power West Chester University (15-2, 4-2 PSAC), 3-0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-17) in PSAC play Saturday afternoon in West Chester.
The win marks the first conference win of the season for The Bald Eagles, moving the team to 1-5 in the conference and 6-9 overall for the year.
Trailing 24-22 in the first set, LHU was able to score five of the next six point to escape with a narrow 27-25 first set victory. After the first set, Lock Haven was able to take control of the match and ride that momentum to a straight set victory.
Breanna McDonald (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) led the Lock Haven charge on offense, totaling 13 kills while
Veronica Morrison (Wyalusing, Pa./Wyalusing Valley) added 12 kills.
On the defensive side, The Bald Eagles had four players tally double-digit digs in a strong, all-around effort.
Shaye Whiteman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) led the defensive unit, tallying 21 digs while Morrison added 13,
Gabrielle Stick (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) added 12 and
Kristen Nealon (Horsham, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added 10.
Nealon also added 38 assists while Stick also added nine kills.

The Bald Eagles will stay on the road for the third straight match when the team travels to rival Bloomsburg to take on the Huskies in the first ever meeting between the teams. That match is scheduled for Tuesday, October 2 with a 7:00 pm first serve.
