Men’ Soccer drops hard fought game to NYIT

The LHU men’s soccer team was unable to shake off an early goal and was edged out by the New York Institute of Technology.

The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (1-2-1) was unable to shake off an early goal and was edged out by the New York Institute of Technology (3-0), 1-0.

Lock Haven had a slight 11-10 advantage in shots over NYIT, but was unable to find the back of the net.

The Bald Eagles managed only three shots in the first half, but turned the pressure on in the second half led by Beckham Sibiski (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown H.S.) and Matthew McDermott (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) who both put two efforts on target.

LHU's pressure nearly paid off in the 82nd minute after Andrew Moore (Lancaster, Pa.
/Conestoga Valley) headed a long throw to the back post for Shane Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens) whose effort went just wide.

Minutes later, Sibiski saw his shot go just over the bar after he gathered a loose ball off of a free kick from the edge of the box

NYIT's only goal of the match came from Bernd Schluter in the 27th minute and proved to be the decisive goal of the match.

LHU will hit the road to take on Bloomsburg on Wednesday, September 12 (7:30 p.m.).
