LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (10-10, 5-8 PSAC) fell at home to Kutztown University (11-9, 9-4 PSAC) 66-55 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Divisional matchup Wednesday night at the Thomas Fieldhouse.
The loss takes LHU to an even 10-10 on the season with seven games remaining in the regular season.
The Golden Bears were able to start the game hot and jumped to an early lead that was never relinquished as the Bald Eagles battled and battled throughout. The Haven was able to cut the KU lead to nine early in the fourth quarter, but Kutztown was able to make a few plays down the stretch to keep LHU at arm's length and secure the 66-55 victory.
The LHU offense was led by
Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) as she scored 14 points to go with six rebounds and two steals.
Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn) and
Tiana Garvin (Philadelphia/Cecil Community College) both played strong defensive games for LHU. Redman led the Bald Eagles with nine rebounds in the game while Garvin totaled nine points and seven rebounds.
As a team, the Lock Haven defense was strong all night, holding the Golden Bears to 40 percent shooting for the game and forcing 16 KU turnovers.
LHU will be right back in action next Wednesday, February 6 when they travel to Mansfield to take on the Mounties (5:30 p.m.).
