LHU secures A-10 Tournament berth, downs Saint Francis 2-0

The LHU field hockey team secured its spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament with a 2-0 win today at Saint Francis.

LORETTO, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (10-7, 6-2 A-10) wrapped up regular-season Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) play today in thrilling fashion, as the Bald Eagles blanked host Saint Francis (4-13, 1-5 A-10), 2-0. With the win, Lock Haven secured a spot in the postseason.
 
LHU moved to 10-7 overall and finished A-10 play at 6-2 overall, which helped Lock Haven clinch a spot in next weekend's Atlantic 10 Tournament.
 
For the Bald Eagles, the win extended their win streak to three games and marked Lock Haven's third straight win by way of shutout. Overall it's LHU's seventh shutout of the season.
 
Standout-goalkeeper Joaquina Orlandini (Concordia, Entre Rios, Argentina/San Antonio School) pitched the shutout today, thanks to a three-save effort. With the victory, Orlandini picked up her ninth win of the season and her seventh individual shutout.
 
Amy Stevens (Castle Creek, N.Y./Whitney Point) and Billie Jo Bollinger (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) provided the goals for Lock Haven.
 
Stevens put Lock Haven up 1-0 in the 25th minute and Bollinger iced the game late with a tally shortly before the end of regulation.
 
The Bald Eagles will close the 2019 regular season on Sunday (Nov. 3) at Rider in non-conference action.
 
The final Atlantic 10 standings and championship bracket will be determined following the conclusion of conference play on Sunday, November 3.
