LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (3-3) was edged out, 77-71, tonight at home by visiting Holy Family University (3-4) in non-conference action.
Lock Haven led by six at the break (40-34) after a solid first half shooting, but the visitors clawed their way back into the game late. Despite several clutch LHU 3's in the final minute of the game, the Tigers escaped The Haven with a win.
Christian Kelly (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) registered an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double and was one of four players in double-figure scoring for Lock Haven.
Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) netted 16 points and
Eli Washington (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) knocked down three 3's and finished with 14 points.
Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia/Archbishop Wood) added 11 points and
Nasir Campbell (Chester, Pa./Chester) had eight rebounds.
Branden Aughburns led Holy Family with 23 points.
Despite the loss, Lock Haven benefitted from 20 points off the bench and the Bald Eagles forced 16 turnovers. LHU tallied 16 total assists on the night as the team moved the ball well. Leading the way was
Trevor Lecuona (Frederick, Md./Oakdale), who had five. Kelly added four assists to round out a solid night.
Lock Haven will return to action on Saturday, December 7 at 3 p.m. when the Bald Eagles host Seton Hill in PSAC action.
