Campbell’s big OT 3 & Cerruti’s career day lead Bald Eagles past Seton Hill

Men’s Basketball defeated Seton Hill by a final of 86-80 in an overtime thriller.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The LHU men's basketball team (4-3, 1-2 PSAC) defeated Seton Hill (1-5, 0-3 PSAC) by a final of 86-80 in an overtime thriller at Thomas Field House.

The first half was close throughout as each team was up and down the court trading basket after basket. LHU was able to pull away as the half winded down stretching their lead to nine going into halftime.

In the second half, LHU started to assert themselves as they saw their lead grow to as many as 17 points midway through the second half. SHU would not go away however chipping away at the Lock Haven lead. Seton Hill would storm all the way back tying the game up at 69-69 forcing the game into overtime.

During the overtime period Lock Haven would fall behind early behind two quick buckets from Seton Hill. LHU was able to strap up defensively forcing SHU into bad shots leaving the door open for a comeback. With 1:47 left on the clock Nasir Campbell (Philadelphia/ Simon Gratz) hit a clutch three-pointer to give Lock Haven the lead for good.
 
LHU earned the hard fought win giving them their first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory of the year.

It was a career day for Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) as he poured in 32 points beating his previous career high of 31. Cerruti went 11-19 from the field, 3-8 from three-point range and hit all seven of his free throw attempts. Cerruti also collected eight rebounds on the day.
 
Christian Kelly (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) had a double double for the Bald Eagles. In going 5-6 from the field, Kelly finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds. This double double is the fourth of the year for Kelly through the first seven games of season.  
 
 Nasir Campbell (Philadelphia/ Simon Gratz) finished with 14 points after hitting the big three in over time. Campbell also collected four rebounds and had two blocks.

The Bald Eagles will have a couple weeks off before they play host to University of Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday, December 21 set for a 3 p.m. first tip.
