LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (1-0) cruised from the opening tip-off dominating Cheyney from start to finish.
It was a wire to wire victory for the Bald Eagles as they jumped out to a 25-7 lead within the first 10 minutes of the game. The Bald Eagles used that strong start to coast into halftime taking a 49-21 lead at the break.
It was much of the same for Lock Haven in the second half as they controlled both of ends of the floor. LHU led by as much as 45 points in the second half giving them a comfortable lead throughout the game and then finishing off the Wolves by a final of 87-48.
Christian Kelly (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) picked up right where he left off a season ago shining on the offensive end finishing with a game high 24 points. Kelly added seven rebounds on the night five of which were defensive.
Eli Washington (Lancaster, Pa./ Hempfield),
Mark Anthony Fidelis (Largo, Md./ DeMatha) and
Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carrol) were all in double figures this evening. Washington finished with 11 and Fidelis and McPherson finished with 10 each. McPherson added eight rebounds, good for the second highest in the game.
Nasir Campbell (Philadelphia/ Simon Gratz) collected 11 total rebounds, 10 of which were defensive, and controlled the glass making sure Cheyney went one and done on the offensive side.
