LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 21 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (0-1) opened the 2019 season this afternoon at home on Charlotte Smith Field, but the Bald Eagles fell to No. 25 Tiffin (2-0), 8-5, in a tightly contested top-25 non-conference clash.

For LHU, the 2019 season marks the 50
th anniversary of the first season of women's lacrosse at Lock Haven back in 1969. The Bald Eagles will celebrate the anniversary later tonight on campus.

Tiffin moved to 2-0 on the season with the win.

Lock Haven trailed 4-1 at halftime, but the Bald Eagles soared in the second-half, netting four goals including two quick ones early in the half. Despite the strong half from the host-Haven squad, the visitors held on for a narrow, 8-5 victory.

LHU goalkeeper
Lauren Girardi (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) kept the Bald Eagles in the game with an 11-save effort.
Karli Gilbert (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown) netted a pair of goals, and both
Braxtin Reddinger (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) and
Loren Librizzi (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) had two assists in the game.

The Bald Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, February 27 when they travel to Roberts Wesleyan for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest.
