CHEYNEY, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team picked up its 12
th win of the 2018-19 season last night (Wed, Feb. 27) at Cheyney, as the Bald Eagles came away with the 84-68 victory on the road.
With the win, LHU moved to 12-13 overall (8-11 PSAC East) and the Bald Eagles completed the season-sweep of Cheyney, a former league foe. In late January (Jan. 26), Lock Haven downed the Wolves, 94-82 in LHU's Thomas Fieldhouse.
Last night, it was the play of
Christian Kelly (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) who powered the Bald Eagles to the win. He finished with a career-high 34 points to go with an astounding 21 rebounds and three assists. The 21 rebounds is the second most rebounds all-time in a single game at Lock Haven.
Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) also played well for head coach
Mike Nestor's squad, finishing with 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists
Jihad Barnes (Philadelphia/Philadelphia Eletric Charter) played a really strong all-around game for LHU, finishing with 21 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals.
The Bald Eagles, who are postseason bound, have just one regular season game remaining. On Saturday, March 2, LHU will close the regular season with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East game at Kutztown University (3 p.m.).
LHU will open PSAC Tournament play on Monday, March 4 with a First Round contest. Monday's opponent and other game details are to be determined by Saturday's results.
