Lacrosse tops Gannon on last-minute stunner

The LHU lacrosse team used a last minute goal from Braxton Reddinger to take down Gannon on Saturday afternoon.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University lacrosse team (3-4, 1-1 PSAC) downed Gannon University (2-4, 0-2 PSAC) in an exhilarating finish that pushed the Bald Eagles to their first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) win of the year Saturday afternoon at Charlotte Smith Field.

Lock Haven put their mark on the game early jumping out to a 9-5 halftime lead. In the second half, Gannon would battle back furiously and took the lead 11-10 with 10 minutes remaining. Braxtin Reddinger (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) scored both of her goals on the day in the final stretch to bring home the win. Reddinger's game-winning goal came with just 23 seconds remaining and sent The Haven faithful home in jubilation.

Caitlin Morrow (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) paced the Bald Eagle offense scoring five goals and recording one assist. Kate Hooper (Perth, Western Australia/St. Mary Anglican Girls School) poured in four more goals and dished out one assist.

Loren Librizzi (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) was sensational again leading The Haven's offense with two goals and a game high 3 assists. In the final minute, Librizzi was able to find Reddinger with a perfect pass on the game-winning goal.

Lauren Girardi (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) was strong once again in front of goal making nine saves for The Haven. Girardi finished with a .429 save percentage as the Bald Eagles held on for the win.

Critical to The Haven's success was a key 16-11 advantage in draw controls. Reddinger led the way with eight draw controls and Hooper finished the day with four.

The Bald Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, March 27 when they host Millersville University. That game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. start.
