Baseball splits with Kutztown

The LHU baseball team lost game one, 8-3, to Kutztown but bounced back in game two, 7-3, on Friday afternoon.

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (13-15-1, 6-8 PSAC East) opened a four-game Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division series with Kutztown University (4-20, 3-11 PSAC East) on the road today in doubleheader action. The Bald Eagles split today's games with the Golden Bears and return home for two more games tomorrow.
 
Host-Kutztown took Game 1, 8-3. The Golden Bears scored eight runs on 10 hits.
 
LHU posted its three on three hits. All three hits came from three different players, including Dillon Good (Denver, Pa./Nyack Collge), who drove in a pair of runs in the fourth on a single through the right side.
 
In Game 2, The Haven bounced back with a 7-3 win behind 12 hits.
 
A pair of Bald Eagles finished up with three hits in the game. Liam McArthur (Basking Ridge, NJ/Seton Hall) and Jimmy Webb (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) both notched three hits and drove in one run each. Joe Zgleszewski (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) led the Haven  in RBI's with two.
 
Scott Leitholf (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) went all seven innings and got the win for Lock Haven. Leitholf struck out two and allowed just five hits and three earned runs.
 
The two teams will do it again tomorrow with a PSAC East doubleheader set to be played back in Lock Haven. Game 1 tomorrow (Saturday, April 13) is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch. Tomorrow is Youth Day, an Athlete Ally game, a showcase of PSAC Sportsmanship Week and LHU President Robert Pignatello will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before Game 1.
