LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (15-15-1, 7-8 PSACE) posted a 13-run fourth inning in game two of the team's doubleheader sweep over Kutztown University (4-22, 3-13 PSACE) that headlined a strong Saturday for LHU at Watkins Field. The Bald Eagles took game one, 5-3 before taking the game two slugfest, 18-14.
Game 1: W, 5-3
Lock Haven knocked off the Golden Bears, 5-3 in game one.
LHU led 1-0 after the first inning when
Joe Zgleszewski (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) knocked an RBI single into right field to put the Haven ahead, 1-0.
After Kutztown jumped ahead 3-1 in the second, LHU cut the deficit to 3-2 when
Colby Hiddemen (Honey Brook, Pa./Twin Valley) drove in a run with an RBI single to right field.
A three-run fourth inning pushed the Bald Eagles ahead, 5-3 as Lock Haven held on late to take game one, 5-3 over the Golden Bears.
John Banes (Springfield, Pa./Cumberland CC) led the LHU offensively at the plate, finishing with two hits and adding two runs scored.
Zgleszewski finished with a single and two RBI's while Hiddeman, and
Liam McArthur (Basking Ridge, N.J./Seton Hall) both scored a run and added RBI's.
Ross Mintzer (Glenside, Pa./Rowan Gloucester CC) pitched a gem on the mound for Lock Haven, throwing six innings while allowing just one hit, three runs and striking out four.
Game 2: W, 18-14
Lock Haven would plate 18 runs on 15 hits. 13 of those runs came in a 13-run explosion in the bottom of the fourth inning to push the score to 18-12.
A trio of Bald Eagles would record three hits on the day: Zgleszewski,
Isaac Porter (Beech Creek, Pa./St. Bonaventure) and
Reagan Lawlor (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township).
Zgleszewski and Lawlor both drove in two runs while Porter blasted a three-run home run in the wild fourth inning.
Banes would lead the Bald Eagles in RBI's with four after his grand slam in the first inning.
McArthur and
Jimmy Webb (Loyalsock, Pa./Loyalsock) both recorded two hits and Webb drove in three runs while McArthur finished with two RBI's.

LHU will return to the field for the team's next game on Tuesday, April 16 when Lock Haven hosts Pitt-Johnstown in a single, nine-inning game. The game is scheduled for a 3:00 PM first pitch at Watkins Field.
