Women’s Volleyball finishes the Daemen Classic at 2-2

The LHU women’s volleyball team dropped two matches today to finish the tournament with a .500 record.

AMHERST, NY. – The Lock Haven University women's volleyball team drops a pair of matches to finish the weekend at the Daemen Volleyball Classic with a .500 record. In game one, LHU fell to Wilmington (DE) (8-4) 0-3 and then fell to tournament host Daemen (8-3) 0-3.


Match 1: vs. Wilmington (Del.) L, 3-0 (25-22, 25-13 & 26-24)

In match one LHU dropped set one 25-22 to Wilmington (DE). In set two the Bald Eagles fell 25-13 before playing a very competitive third set which saw Wilmington narrowly escape 26-24 to win the match.

In another balanced offensive attack Lock Haven had four players record seven or more kills. Recording a team high was Gloriah Kroh (Clarion, Pa./Clarion Area) who led the way with nine kills. Cassidy Hoover (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle High) was not far behind as she added eight kills. Breanna McDonald (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) and Krystal Heffelfinger (Danielsville, Pa./Northampton) finished with seven kills apiece.

Kristen Nealon (Horsham, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added a game high 30 assists in pacing the LHU offense. McDonald added 12 digs in an all-around performance.

Match 2: vs. Host-Daemen L, 3-0 (25-20, 26-24 & 25-17)

In match two, LHU fell 25-20 in set one. In set two LHU fell in a tight battle 26-24, before dropping the final set 25-17.

McDonald finished the game with nine kills giving her 16 kills on the day and helping her to 40 kills overall for the tournament.

Nealon was right in the middle of the offense once again as she dished out 20 assists. In a nice defensive effort Paige Wolfe (Plano, Tx./Plano West) added a team high 11 digs.

For Nealon and McDonald's efforts they were both named to the Daemen Volleyball Classic all tournament team. In addition to being named to the all-tournament team, Nealon and McDonald have helped the Bald Eagles to a 6-4 record after three tournaments to begin the season.

Lock Haven will open the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference schedule with a road matchup against Edinboro on September, 26 starting at 6 p.m.
