Men’s Soccer falls late to Slippery Rock

The LHU men’s soccer team drops home contest on last minute Slippery Rock goal.

 
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (2-5, 0-2 PSACE) fell to visiting Slippery Rock (3-2-1, 0-0 PSACW) 1-0.
 
Throughout the game and the first half Lock Haven and Slippery Rock were two evenly matched teams. Both teams were given four corner kicks during the first 45 minutes of play. LHU held the first half shot advantage recording nine shots to Slippery Rocks five.
 
With the first half coming to a close Camden Cook (Rosedale, Md./High Point) made a beautiful diving save to keep the game scoreless.
 
In the 25th minute of play LHU nearly took the lead on a shot from Chase Tackett (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty). Tackett fired the ball from 20 yards out that beat the Slippery Rock goalie but was denied by the post. Beckham Sibiski (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) and Andrea DiSomma (Lancaster, Pa./ Manheim Township) were persistent all day in trying to find the back of the net. They each recorded four shots on the day.
 
Despite going down a man in the 47th minute, LHU would not go away. They applied pressure all second half but could not find the back of the net. This game was psychical from start to finish as there were 31 total fouls. The Rock had 17 total and LHU was responsible for 14 of their own.
 
With minutes remaining, Slippery Rock was a awarded a corner and put the ball into the back of the net. The Bald Eagle defensive unit was solid in front of Cook who made three saves on the day.
