LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (0-0-1,0-0 PSAC) kicked off the 2019 season playing to a 0-0 tie against Mercyhurst (0-0-1, 0-0 PSAC). It was a back and fourth affair as Lock Haven recorded 10 shots and Merchyhurst recorded 12 of their own. With the tie, Bald Eagle head coach
Maggie Kuhn earns her first point in her Lock Haven debut.
The Bald Eagle offense was persistant all day, tallying 10 total team shots. Senior forward
Marah Foltz (Mountville, Pa./ Hempfield High) paced the Lock Haven offense as she recorded 5 shots with 3 of them being on goal.
Lock Havens defense was in control from start to finish. Bald Eagle goal keeper
Karly Trillhaase (Eatontown, Ny./ Monmouth Regional) was their when the team needed her recording 4 saves.
The defensive unit was strong in front of Trillhaase as
Anna Manley (Catawissa, Pa./ Southern Columbia) and
Taylor Moritz (Harleysville, Pa./ Soudertown High) were in command shutting down any real threat Mercyhurst was able put together.
LHU's midfield was led by
Erika Landis (Watsontown, Pa./ Warrior Run) and
Josie Swartz (Mifflintown, Pa./ Juniata) who controlled the pace of the play in the midfield. Swartz finished with two shots on goal and Landis added a shot on goal of her own.
Impressing in their Lock Haven debuts was
Marley Sprenkel (Selinsgrove, Pa./ Selinsgrove High) and
Madison Warminsky (Fogelsville, Pa./ Parkland) who stepped in right away in helping the Bald Eagles record their first result of the season.
