LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The LHU women's basketball team (9-7, 6-5 PSAC East) defeated the Bloomsburg Huskies (7-8, 4-7 PSAC East) 61-55 on Friday evening in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
The Bald Eagles hopped out to an early lead, holding a 15-11 lead after the first quarter of play. Bloomsburg came back and quickly erased the deficit in the beginning of the second quarter, going on a 10-0 run to go ahead of Lock Haven 23-18. LHU hit right back, tying it up at 23 with a five-point run of their own, but the Huskies would take a 28-23 lead in to the half.
Bloomsburg pushed ahead 34-25 in the early minutes of the third quarter, but the Bald Eagles came back with a 10-0 run of their own to take the lead once again. Lock Haven would hold the lead for the rest of the third, taking a 44-42 advantage in to the final quarter.
The Huskies tied it at 44 just under two minutes in to the fourth quarter, going up 46-44 shortly afterwards. Before Bloomsburg could increase the lead much more, the Bald Eagles went on a 7-0 run to take the lead, never looking back as they ran to a 61-55 victory.
Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) led Lock Haven with 17 points, her fifth consecutive game scoring in the double-digits, while Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCasky) added 15 points. Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) rounded out the top scorers, notching nine points.
Jaynelle Robinson (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport (Monroe CC)) added six points and eight rebounds, increasing her PSAC-leading board total to 173 (10.8/game). Robinson's 10.8 rebounds per game average is in a tie for 13th in the nation.
UP NEXT: Lock Haven returns home next Wednesday, Jan. 22 for a mid-week matchup with the Millersville Marauders. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
