LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The LHU women's basketball team (10-8, 6-6 PSAC East) dropped a back and forth contest to visiting Shippensburg (13-6, 10-3 PSAC East) on Saturday afternoon.
In a matchup featuring two of the top teams in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East division, Shippensburg prevailed in the end winning the game, 71-60.
The first and second quarters played out as expected with two evenly matched teams. Shippensburg held the largest lead of the half at just five points taking a two point lead into the break.
Marena Lonardi (Elizabethtown, Pa./ Elizabethtown) and
Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) came out firing in the third quarter combining for 14 points in the frame. Lonardi poured in 21 points overall to go along with five rebounds. Leidy had eight in the quarter on her way to 17 for the game. Leidy filled the stat sheet finishing with five assists, three rebounds and three steals.
The Raiders pulled away late from the Bald Eagles outscoring them by 13 points in the second half.
Jaynelle Robinson (Williamsport, Pa./ Williamsport (Monroe CC) was active on the glass finishing with a game high 11 rebounds, eight of them being defensive.
Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) chipped in 14 points of her own while adding a season high four steals.
