Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball falls in road contest to ESU

The Lock Haven University men’s basketball team fell on the road to conference foe East Stroudsburg.

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The LHU men's basketball team (8-10, 5-9 PSAC East) fell to East Stroudsburg (11-8, 7-7 PSAC East) by a final score of 75-61 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division play on Wednesday night.

The first half was close throughout as the two teams found themselves tied on four separate occasions in the half. ESU went into the break holding on to a six-point lead despite LHU shooting 52.2% from the field and 42.9% from downtown. Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carrol) tallied eight first half points to lead the way for the Bald Eagles on four of seven shooting.

Lock Haven was strong on the defensive end as they held East Stroudsburg's leading scorer to just four first half points.

The second half was back and fourth for the first 10 minutes as neither Lock Haven nor East Stroudsburg could seem to separate themselves in the game. With 9:30 left on the clock the Bald Eagles cut their halftime deficit to one point on a layup by Nasir Campbell (Philadelphia/ Simon Gratz). Campbell finished with 11 points to go along with eight rebounds.

Over the final minutes of the game, ESU was too much to overtake for LHU as the Warriors never looked back stretching their lead using stingy defense and timely three-point shooting.

In playing nearly the entire game, Christian Kelly (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) led the way for the Bald Eagles as he finished with a game high 17 points to go along with seven rebounds. Also playing big minutes was Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) who chipped in nine points of his own. Trevor Lecuona (Baltimore, Md./ Oakdale) added seven points of his own going three for three from the field.
