LHU Women’s Basketball fell late to No. 11 IUP in a PSAC East-West Crossover on Friday evening

INDIANA, Pa. – The LHU women's basketball team (7-4, 4-2 PSAC) fell to No. 11 IUP (11-1, 6-0 PSAC) 51-64 on Friday evening in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East-West matchup.

The Bald Eagles came out hard against IUP, taking an 18-12 lead over the Crimson Hawks after the first quarter of play. A hard-fought second quarter saw little scoring from either side, but LHU was able to push their lead to 11, taking a 29-18 lead in to the half.

IUP pushed back in the second half, going on a seven-point run in the beginning half of the third quarter to cut the Bald Eagles lead to six. LHU would come right back and tack on six points in less than a minute to double the lead once again, but another run from the Crimson Hawks at the end of the third decreased the lead to five as LHU held on to a 43-38 lead.

The Crimson Hawks kicked off the final quarter with a five-point run to even the game at 43. A series of successful free throws gave LHU a narrow three-point lead, but not for long as IUP would fight back once again, notching thirteen consecutive points to go up 56-46. The Bald Eagles were unable to claw their way back in to the game, falling to the Crimson Hawks 51-64.

Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) and Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn) led the Bald Eagles offense, notching 14 and 10 points respectively. Parker, who went a perfect 4-4 from the free throw stripe, added five rebounds while Redman notched six rebounds of her own.

Junior Jaynelle Robinson (Williamsport, Pa./ Williamsport (Monroe CC)) recorded 11 rebounds, her sixth game recording 10 or more rebounds. Robinson, who has led the PSAC in boards for the majority of the season, now sits atop the conference with 124 rebounds and an 11.3 rebounds per game average. Robinson also added eight points against the Crimson Hawks.

UP NEXT: The Bald Eagles return to action on Monday, Jan. 6 when they travel to Kutztown to face off against the Golden Bears. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
