Women’s Basketball caps senior night with win over East Stroudsburg

The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team downed the Warriors in the final home game of the 2019-20 season

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (14-12, 11-10 PSAC East) defeated East Stroudsburg (18-9, 14-7 PSAC East) 60-46 on Wednesday evening as the Bald Eagles wrapped up their 2019-20 home slate.

Both teams stood strong defensively in the early minutes of the game, as the Warriors held a narrow 5-4 lead over halfway through the first. After a three-pointer put East Stroudsburg up by four with four minutes left, the Bald Eagles went on an 8-0 tear to go up 12-8 before taking a 12-10 lead in to the second quarter.

Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) kicked off the second quarter in style, knocking a three just 10 seconds in to the quarter to mark her 200th career three-pointer in a Lock Haven uniform. The Warriors would come back to tie it, and a battle for the lead ensued in the following minutes before Lock Haven was able to regain control and secure a 25-22 lead going in to the break.

The Bald Eagles continued to push ahead in the third, outscoring East Stroudsburg 14-8 to build the advantage to nine points and take a 39-30 lead in to the final period of play. Lock Haven held a steady ten-point lead for most of the fourth quarter, fending off the Warriors best comeback attempts to take the 60-48 victory.

Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) headlined a trio of Bald Eagles in double figures, leading the team with 12 points while going 8-9 from the free throw stripe and tying a career-high three steals. Jaynelle Robinson (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport (Monroe CC)) and Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn) rounded out the trio, notching 11 and 10 points respectively. Both Robinson and Redman added 12 rebounds apiece to mark a set of double-doubles for the pair.

Redman's 10 points mark her fourth consecutive game in the double-digits, and Robinson's 12 rebounds increase her season total to 253 (9.7/game), a mark that leads the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
