Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Tennis caps fall season Saturday vs. Cal

Bald Eagles close fall portion of their 2021-22 season with Saturday-match vs. Cal (Pa.). The LHU tennis team went 2-3 during the fall season and will return to action in April when the spring championship season arrives.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lock Haven University tennis team capped the fall portion of the Bald Eagles 2021-22 season today (Saturday) with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) dual-match vs. California (Pa.) University. The Vulcans won 6-1 in a match played in Williamsport, Pa.

The two teams were scheduled to play today in Lock Haven, but the match was moved to the Central PA Tennis Center after a steady and cold rain caused unplayable court conditions at The Haven.

For Lock Haven, Maddy Reeves (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) stood out today. At No. 1 singles, she rolled by Cal's Carmen Duran, 6-1, 6-0.

Reeves' singles win came after a dominant outing in doubles play. At No. 1 doubles, Reeves and Mia Shuler (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) won 6-1 over Carmen Duran and Maria Del Mar Ojeda of California.

With the win, Cal moved to 4-3 this fall in duals, while Lock Haven fell to 2-3 overall.

Today's action helped LHU close a busy, but successful fall. The two wins this fall mark the first since varsity women's tennis returned to play at LHU in 2019.

The Bald Eagles are scheduled to return to play in early April.
