WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lock Haven University tennis team opened a busy stretch of competition this afternoon (Thursday, Oct. 7) at nearby Lycoming College. The Bald Eagles came away with their first dual win, 5-4, since the return of the program in 2019.

Leading the way today for LHU was its No. 1
Maddy Reeves (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) and No. 2
Mia Shuler (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) who both secured wins in their individual matches and then teamed for a win at No. 1 doubles.

Reeves and Shuler dominated, 6-3, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-1, respectively in singles play. In doubles play, they combined for an 8-3 win.

Olivia Sharp (York, Pa./York County School of Technology) delivered the win in the decisive match for the Bald Eagles at No. 6 singles after pushing the match to a third set. Her 5-7, 6-0, 10-8 win finalized the win for LHU.

Delani Wolever (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) and
Christy McLean (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe) came through with a critical victory at No. 2 doubles which paved the way for future LHU success.

The landmark win for the Bald Eagles is the program's first since the 1991 season as the team only returned to competition in 2019.

The Bald Eagles will be right back in action tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 9) at Penn College. On Saturday, LHU will head to Bloomsburg University for a pair of dual matches as well. The full 2021-22 LHU tennis schedule is available at GoLHU.com.
