KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (2-12, 0-4 PSAC East) traveled to Kutztown University (7-9, 2-2 PSAC East) on Friday night in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action, but fell, 3-1, (25-19, 25-20, 22-25 & 25-16) to the Golden Bears.

Kutztown surged ahead in the early sets and took a commanding lead, taking the opening two sets from the Bald Eagles. LHU fought back and grabbed a third-set victory, 25-22, but was unable to force a fifth set as the Golden Bears responded in the match-winning fourth set.

Grace Hugar (Clarence, Pa./Bald Eagle) and
Gabriela Fialova (Ledec nad Sazavou, Czech Republic/ (Indian River)) led the way for the Bald Eagles with nearly identical performances. Each of the LHU outside hitters hit 13 digs and also added 17 digs on the defensive end. Both Fialova and Hugar notched three service aces as the two were in sync all night for LHU.

Regan Happ (Lighthouse Point, Fla./Westminster Academy) also tallied 17 digs to join the trio of Bald Eagles who combined for the team-high.

Kelly Gaston (Centennial, Colo./Grandview) led all players, handing out 37 assists, but it proved to not  be enough to push The Haven past Kutztown.

LHU is back in action on the road tomorrow (October 9) against East Stroudsburg. The Bald Eagles match with the Warriors is slated for a 7 p.m. start time.
