Women’s Basketball opens season with a win, drops Frostburg State

The LHU women’s basketball team defeated Frostburg State 63-56 in tonight’s (Nov. 16) season-opener at Thomas Fieldhouse.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (1-0) defeated Frostburg State University (0-3), 63-56, in the regular season-opener for the Bald Eagles.
 
Lock Haven trailed in the first quarter, but jumped out to a hot start in the second and outscored FSU 51-41 over the next three quarters. In total, four LHU players scored double-digit points for the Bald Eagles. Lock Haven scored 20 points in the paint and got a 17-point contribution from the bench.

Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) and Adaliz Corbin (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) paced the offense for Lock Haven, dropping 17 points each. They both added four rebounds.
 
Corbin was extremely efficient with her opportunities. She shot 6-7 from the field and was 3-4 beyond the arc. Nadia Romanchock (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin)
shared Corbin's efficiency as she also shot 75% beyond the arc on her way to 11 points. Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) made five of her six free throw attempts and scored a total of 14 points. She added a game-high seven assists and stole three balls from the Frostburg contingent.
 
Jackie Fetsko (Marion Center, Pa./Marion Center) was a force in the paint for LHU and snatched seven total rebounds. Her two blocks were also a game-high.
 
Up Next:
The Bald Eagles travel to Seton Hill for a two-game weekend tournament. LHU opens on Saturday (Nov. 20) at 3:00 p.m. against Salem before closing the weekend on Sunday (Nov. 21) against Tiffin at 1:00 p.m.
