GREENSBURG, Pa. –The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (3-0) slipped past Tiffin University (2-3), 66-62, to cap a 2-0 weekend at the Tri-State Thanksgiving Classic this weekend in Seton Hill.
The 3-0 start for the Bald Eagles is the programs best start since the 1995-96 season.
LHU was able to build up a slight four-point advantage going into halftime thanks to a strong 48 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc. LHU led at half 32-28, and in the second half they were able to clamp down defensively on the Dragons and hold on for the 66-62 victory.
Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) was a force for the Bald Eagles knocking down 24 points and dominating the paint with 16 rebounds. The LHU forward also rejected three Tiffin shots and grabbed one steal in a tremendous performance.
The freshman combination of
Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) and
Carly Fitzmorris (Hamburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII) both reached double figures for LHU scoring 15 and 10, respectively. Fitzmorris was crucial to The Haven offense and handed out a game-high seven assists and Lawyer hauled in four rebounds.
Adaliz Corbin (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) also grabbed nine rebounds for the Bald Eagles as LHU held a slender 42-40 advantage on the glass.
LHU held a strong 46.7 percent from beyond the arc led by Parkers's three made three-pointers. Lawyer and Fitzmorris each knocked home two apiece from downtown.

The Bald Eagles return to Thomas Fieldhouse and open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Friday, December 3 when they host Edinboro. That game is set for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
