OXFORD, Ohio – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team fell to NCAA Division I Miami (Ohio) University 73-43 today in an exhibition game.
The Bald Eagles made the most of the opportunity as 13 players played and seven different players scored. Playing in the Division I atmosphere, Lock Haven turned in a tremendous second-quarter effort after the hosts led 23-11 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, Miami outscored LHU 12-10 and took a 35-21 lead into the halftime break.
Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) scored 16 points and added nine rebounds to lead the way for Lock Haven.
Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) scored 12 points, while
Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) chipped in with five points and four rebounds.
Nadia Romanchock (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) added five rebounds and four points.
Lock Haven was picked fifth of nine teams in the 2021-22 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division preseason coaches' poll. Back in 2019-20, LHU made a PSAC tournament appearance after going 15-13 overall. The Bald Eagles were 12-10 in league play during that aforementioned 2019-20 season.
LHU will officially open the 2021-22 season at home on Tuesday, November 16 at 5:30 p.m. when the Bald Eagles host Frostburg State in non-conference action. The full 2021-22 LHU women's basketball schedule is available at GoLHU.com.
