ERIE, Pa. –The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (4-2, 1-2 PSAC) fell to nationally-ranked Gannon University (6-1, 2-1 PSAC), 58-46, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East-West crossover matchup on Tuesday night.
The Bald Eagles were able to hold the No. 16 Gannon offense to just 32 percent from the field in the first half. LHU got 10 first-half points from
Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) and trailed the Knights by just six points at halftime.
In the third quarter, Gannon got their offense rolling and stretched out a 45-28 at the end of the period. The Knights shot an emphatic 53 percent from the field in what proved to be the deciding quarter of play.
The Bald Eagles hit back resoundingly early in the fourth quarter and were able to close the gap to six points once more at 49-43 behind a 7-0 solo run from
Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey). The Knights, however, ended the game on a 9-3 run of their own and came away with the 58-46 victory
Parker led the Bald Eagle charge with her fourth double-double of the year. The forward poured in 20 points, hauled in 10 rebounds and also grabbed a steal to cap a strong individual performance.
Lawyer finished the night with 10 points. The freshman handed out three assists and grabbed two steals.
Jaynelle Robinson (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport (Monroe CC)) notched seven points to round out the LHU scoring.
