LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (4-3, 1-3 PSAC) fell to Pitt-Johnstown (4-7, 2-3 PSAC) 62-58 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) battle on Sunday.
Going into halftime, Lock Haven trailed the Mountain Cats by three points after the two teams were locked in a competitive opening two quarters. Pitt-Johnstown got off to a hot start after half-time and took an 11-point advantage heading into the final quarter. The Bald Eagles clawed all the way back and outscored the Mountain Cats 20-13 in the final ten minutes. The comeback fell just short down the stretch and UPJ brought home the 62-58 win.
Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) paced the offensive effort for LHU, notching 19 points. She was 3-6 beyond the arc and nearly perfect from the free-throw line shooting 8-9. She added three rebounds and dished out two assists.
Jaynelle Robinson (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport (Monroe CC)) was a fixture inside the paint. She shot 50% from the field and managed twelve points. She also grabbed 10 rebounds and collected two steals.
Carly Fitzmorris (Hamburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII) had a notable effort of her own. She shot 4-9 from the field and added four rebounds. Her 11-point effort was nearly the difference-maker down the stretch, including a layup with ten seconds to play to bring LHU within two points.
