LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (4-4, 1-3 PSAC) fell on the road at Clarion University (5-4, 1-3 PSAC) 79-67 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest on Saturday.
Clarion got off to a hot shooting start in the first half. After LHU scored the opening bucket, the Golden Eagles took back the lead and held it until halftime. Clarion stretched to as much as a 14-point lead with six minutes left in the half, but a late Bald Eagles run closed the gap and set up an exciting second half with Clarion up 36-30.
Clarion started the second half just like the first and quickly pushed the lead back to 12 points at 46-34. Despite the Bald Eagles 8-0 run to close the gap to 46-42, Clarion held off LHU and built the lead back to double digits. The Golden Eagles kept The Haven at bay down the stretch and were able to come away with the 79-67 victory.
MarkAnthony Fidelis (Largo, Md./DeMatha) paced the Bald Eagles with his fourth 20-point game of the season. His 21 points were a game high and he also grabbed five rebounds
Making up a trio of Bald Eagles in double figures were
Dymir Montague (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) and
Eli Washington (East Petersburg, Pa./Hempfield) who both added 16 points.
Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) was strong on the glass for LHU and posted a game-high 11 rebounds.
