LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team opened the 2021 season in dramatic fashion as the Bald Eagles secured a thrilling walk-off win in game one of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division doubleheader with Kutztown University (5-1, 1-1 PSAC East). Lock Haven (1-1, 1-1 PSAC East) won game one 3-2, but LHU dropped game two 8-6 despite a rally in the stretch innings.
Reagan Lawlor (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) provided the offensive fireworks in game one and his seventh-inning single drove in the game-winning run.
Isaac Porter (Beech Creek, Pa./Central Mountain) was credited with two RBIs in the win.
Despite a no decision, starting pitcher
Scott Leitholf (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York) was solid for Lock Haven. Over five innings of work, he scattered three hits and struck out four.
Kevin Worek (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Abington) was credited with the win after striking out two in the final two innings of action. Worek allowed only one hit and no walks.
With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Lawlor's single to left field provided the late-game heroics the Bald Eagles needed as he drove in the winning-run and gave LHU a dramatic walk-off victory in the opener. In the third inning, Porter drove in a pair of runs on a single.
Kutztown held on to win game two, 8-6, despite Lock Haven striking in the late innings.
The Bald Eagles six game-two runs came from seven hits. Porter was 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Jake Mastillo (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) was 2 for 3 and hit a solo home run in the sixth inning.
