LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's lacrosse team (1-0, 1-0 PSAC West) opened the season with a dominating 19-6 victory over visiting Gannon University (0-3, 0-2 PSAC West) this afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division action.
Caitlin Morrow (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) scored just 23 seconds into the contest and
Krysta Reading (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) made it 2-0 Lock Haven less than a minute into the contest. That fast start led LHU to a 13-3 advantage at halftime.
The Bald Eagles added six second-half goals.
Overall, Morrow led the way with six goals, while
Addy Borkowski (Eagleville, Pa./Methacton) netted five and Reading finished with four markers for the Bald Eagles.
Campbell Brant (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) and
Braxtin Reddinger (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) both scored twice for Lock Haven to round out the offensive surge.
Casey Hibbard (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne Central) dished out five assists.
Lock Haven held a 17-8 advantage in draw controls and the LHU defense forced Gannon into 21 turnovers.
Starting goalkeeper
Lauren Girardi (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) made seven saves in the winning effort.
The Bald Eagles will return to action quickly as they head to IUP Saturday (March 20) for a 2 p.m. PSAC West game.
