LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (1-7, 1-7 PSAC East) was downed by Kutztown University (13-2, 10-2 PSAC East) today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division play.
Kutztown managed their way to a 6-0 game-one win, but Lock Haven challenged the Golden Bears closely in game two. Kutztown held off a late rally by the Lock Haven contingent and came away with the win 3-2.
The Lock Haven offense was led by
Summer Peters (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) who made magic out of her bat and finished the day 6-for-6 after the two games. In the closely contested second game, Peters scored both of Lock Haven's runs. She also finished the day with two stolen bases.
Despite the game two loss,
Madison Waltman (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) threw an impressive game. Pitching the complete game, she scattered a mere five hits, despite facing 27 batters, and only surrendered three runs.
Haley Lestician (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) made her presence known again today. In today's second game, she went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
SCHEDULE UPDATE:
Tomorrow's (Friday, March 26) home PSAC East doubleheader vs. Shippensburg University has been postponed because of an unfavorable weather forecast. This doubleheader will be moved to Monday, March 29 and the first pitch of game one is set for 1 p.m. on Monday. Lock Haven and Shippensburg are still scheduled to play two at Ship on Saturday, March 27 at 1 p.m.
